Living The Quaker Way
I am a spiritual seeker and I realised that’s quite normal in a Quaker meeting
How are we organised?
King’s Lynn Meeting is just one of the local Quaker meetings in our area. Each local Quaker meeting manages its own affairs. There is no separate priesthood so there are a number of roles which need to be shared out among regular participants. There is a Clerk who deals with communications and who also records any decisions the meeting makes. There is a team responsible for ensuring that our community is supportive and encourages openness to the Spirit that guides us all. Others take responsibility for maintaining the premises and organising the lettings. These roles are usually taken for a period of three or six years.
Belonging to a meeting community means that we can share our experience, supporting and encouraging each other’s spiritual explorations. It also helps us to live so that our lives express our faith.
Sharing our experience
Shared reading group
One of the ways we encourage each other to reflect and develop our spiritual lives is to read and discuss what we read.
The book we are currently sharing is Sacred Nature by Karen Armstrong.
Experiment with Light
This is a regular guided meditation with voluntary sharing afterwards. It is a deep, meditative practice which was originated at the inception of Quakers by George Fox and his original followers. This does not interest all Quakers, but it is practiced all over the world wherever there are Quakers. King’s Lynn holds its own group once a month on Zoom and several times a year in person.
Email the Clerk, Jenny Luck, for details of how and when. You do not need any experience of meditation to take part, but a chat with Jenny would be very useful.

Letting our lives speak
Quakers have found that opening our hearts and minds to the question “What does love require of me?” means being drawn into action. Typically Quakers get involved in activities directed towards
- peace,
- equality,
- integrity,
- simplicity
- sustainability
and these values, when put into action, are often referred to as “testimonies”.
Companions in Bereavement
King’s Lynn Quaker Meeting supports a group of qualified bereavement support workers who hold regular walk-in sessions and also individual support sessions by arrangement. If someone you love died you may be struggling without them. Come and share your issues, it really helps.
Every Friday between 10.00am to 12.00pm at the Quakers Kings Lynn Meeting House
